There are moments when we have to make a clean and complete break with the past, without any possibility of turning back to the life we left behind. That’s what Elisha did, when he burned his farming plow. That day he ceased to be Elisha the farmer and began a new life as Elisha the prophet. Similarly, if you really want the past to be behind you, without the option of ever turning back, you’ve got to burn the plowing equipments of your past relationships and attachments, past failures and successes, past careers and goals, and past habits and attitudes.
