History is shortsighted, but legacy has vision. In the fierce contest between the two, history often distorts truth, misinterprets events, and omits relevant facts. For a place in the record books, history frequently preys upon people’s ignorance and fears, and leverages its influence to ban, burn, and bury every trace of legacy’s works. But aided by time and truth, legacy always prevails in its interrogation of history. History can narrate our past, but cannot write our future. Legacy uses hindsight to accurately recall the things of old, pass them on to the future, and actually become part of the future. History or legacy?
